Investigations

Airway first: treat and call for help; tests come after the airway is safe.

First visit

SpO₂ — Continuous.

Only if indicated

Laryngoscopy by ENT/anaesthesia — Once stable, to find the cause.
Neck and chest X-ray — Suspected foreign body.
C1-inhibitor and C4 — Recurrent angioedema without hives (hereditary angioedema).
